Koko Head with Me, Danyelle, Jackie, and Lauren Sept. 11, 2010

Beautiful day for a hike! On the days that look the best to hike they also may be the most dangerous. Afternoon heat coupled with Hawaii's high humidity can be a recipe for disaster. Mix that with max heart rates and heat stroke is at a very high percentage. Many think that because of its short distance there is no need for that much water or electrolytes on Koko Head. Please pack your water and bring electrolyes with you. I personally like to use NUUNs nuun.com. They are portable, effective, proven, and sugar free! I get mine from The Running Room on 819 Kapahulu Ave. runningroomhawaii.com. Remember hydration is not just about water. It is a balance of sodium, potassium, magnesium, and water. Happy, safe hiking!!!
